Digital X-Rays
Reduced Radiation! Faster Images!
Digital X-rays are computer generated images. These images require up to 90% less radiation than with conventional film type x-rays. With this system, pictures are taken via a small electronic sensor, then instantaneously (in ~5-secs) transmits a picture of the tooth onto a video monitor in the treatment room. We can see your teeth and surrounding structures immediately!
Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light. The computer image can be modified in some cases to change the contrast and intensities. This enhances our ability to analyze more details in the teeth, for example a better ability to detect cavities. This process also eliminates the wait for x-ray film to be processed.
Currently, we are using this technology to expedite processes such as Root canal Treatments, or for other procedures that require greater visualization of detail such as cavity detection, Crown Cementations, etc.
